Maths: Parental Involvement
We are lucky to have so many enthusiastic parents wanting to support children with Maths learning but we appreciate that Maths has changed quite a bit in the last few years and can sometimes be taught differently to how parents learned it! To help with this, we run Maths workshops and learning bites so parents can see our approaches to teaching maths. Unfortunately, these haven’t happened recently due to Covid19 but watch this space for 2021-22 sessions.
The best support parents can provide is to help children become fluent in addition and subtraction facts and multiplication tables. See Fact Fluency section.
There are some useful ‘maths for parent’s guides on this page which may provide additional information to help parents help children at home.
White Rose Maths have also produced some helpful parent videos to explain the types of representations and ways we teach in schools today. You can find them here https://whiterosemaths.com/for-parents/maths-with-michael/
Please ask your child’s class teacher or email firstname.lastname@example.org if you require any additional support.
